With the Karnataka government's announcement of a possibility of suspension of more than 9.1 lakh illegal LPG cooking gas connections, consumers are in dilemma to know the status of their connection.
Consumers are advised to check the status of their LPG connection as the civil supplies and consumers affairs had issued notification to suspend illegal connections. If your LPG connection is legal, you have to submit the documents within 15 days, otherwise the LPG connection will be suspended.
Recently, the government officials told that around 9.1 lakh of the 22,45,959 cooking gas connections in Bangalore city are illegal and government had recommended the oil PSUs to suspend 9,10,937 connections in the city for failing to produce documents like ration cards and electricity meter numbers or producing faulty documents.
Consumers can check the status of their connection on the website of the department of food and civil supplies(http://web1.kar.nic.in/fcslpg4/Main.aspx), three state-owned petroleum companies, and all local gas distribution outlets. Click here to check status.
"We have suspended those consumers who have not turned up with their documents or have not provided the RR numbers or there is a mismatch of RR number and LPG consumer number and LPG consumers with commercial RR numbers. But we are open to them if they furnish the correct documents … or apply directly at taluk offices," said Karandlaje, state Minister for food, civil supplies and consumer affairs.
